Fred your a ignorant idiotic man for calling Waco a slaughterhouse.I hope you get it back one of these days for saying that about my favorite hometown Waco.
What a sad waste of life. It affects so many when one makes the choice to take a life.
My heart and prayers go out to the families of these tragic events.
There were four murders in San Antonio just yesterday, and not in an outlying community, but in the city itself.
I guess San Antonio is a slaughterhouse, then. How they will continue to be the second fastest growing city in the nation and maintain their tourist industry is a mystery to me.
Waco is a terrific place. Waco is home and home to God’s greatest people.
I do believe that the term “slaughterhouse” is a bit harsh for the town of Waco as a whole, but it may bring to light the mood changes over the past 30 or so years. We have become so accustomed to violence in this nation with TV, Video Games, and movies that we may have just become nonchalant and give murder names like, tragedy, unfortunate, terrible, maybe even horrified. I can not agree with calling Waco the “slaughterhouse-Waco”. Although I can call these latest string of unfortunate, tragic, terrible, and yes the horrifying slaughter of 2 humans just what it is Slaughter! Fred might have given a moment of pause and wonder just were this town can be if we don’t start calling murder just what it is. This is just plain senseless slaughter of human life. It does not matter were it occurs, San Antonio, Houston, LA, and or this great town Waco we all are affected tragically sooner of later if we don’t get a grip on violence in America.
maybe ” FRED ” can move to south Los Angeles and find out first hand what it’s like to live in crime. It’s not uncommon for 4 to 6 murders to occur on a weekend. Waco is no different than any other city in Texas or any other state to have crime. There are ” bad guys ” everywhere. There is an old saying ” if you don’t like the heat, get out of the kitchen “.
you know people, there was a GOOD man A HUSBAND AND FATHER, just killed here. show some damn respect for the family! I know these peole, i have done business with them also. i wish the trib would remove the ability to post comments! jez!!
Fred must have never lived anywhere else, watched the national news, read the newspaper (this one), or even listened to the radio. Waco is just like any other city its size. I live in a city about twice the size of waco and we would love to have the crime/murder rate that you have there. Waco is a nice place where bad things happen like any other city in the U.S. Wake up Fred.
Fred is a sick man. Without the ability to post, particularly the ability to post anything negative, he would not have a life. He really does not care what happens in Waco or anywhere else, so long as he can post something negative. He does not care about crime or the victimes. He is an object of pity.
Wacky Waco — you just encouraged me to do a Google Search:
Hm. Interesting math you got there. But then again, I am not very good in math — so, WW,please explain your figures to me. When I look at the FBI UCR’s for 2007, it shows the US murder rate per 100,000 to be 5.9, and Waco’s number per 122,000 to be 6. When you explain it, please elaborate on the ‘real bad’ part, as it looks pretty good to me….
Get real you blind people…..or rather you blind sheep. Waco is a crime infested rat-hole that is drowning in Crack Cocaine and Meth related violence and thefts. Slaughterhouse Waco is going to get much worse before it gets better. Slaughterhouse Waco has one of the weakest Police Departments in the State. Fifteen officers on the street (at any given time) in a city of 120,000? Many of this years MURDERS in Slaughterhouse Waco are unsolved. Slaughterhouse Waco has the fifth highest per capita VIOLENT crime rates in the State of Texas. I dare you! Call 911 in a real emergency and see how long it takes the Waco Police to respond on any given night? If they respond at all. You are on your own in Slaughterhouse Waco. The damned Police themselves tried to tell you how bad Slaughterhouse Waco actually is with all those warning TV ads about the VIOLENCE in Waco. Wake up and load your own gun.
Get over it with the nonsense a MAN named Joe Sturdivant has been MURDERED here doesn’t any one care. He was a good business and family man. Pray for his family they need to be remembered at this time of sorrow. THINK ABOUT IT WOULD YOU!!!
My family now lives in Wisconsin.
….my wife, daughter and one of the grandchildren were on the way to Waco when their car broke down in Hillsboro. Through a mutual friend who works at his shop, Joe offered to supply one of his trailers to haul the car. He was extremely gracious to my wife and asked for nothing in return…this is very sad…..
to dear, thank you for staying true to the subject,we have lost a good friend, and this is really not the time or place for this diatribe about the city of waco.i would rather read text from people who spent their friday nights watching the number 8 or the number1 circle the heart of texas speedway, where joe was a driver and in later life owner of paul whites car,im sure joe would rater be remembered for the great driver and car owner he was and lets not forget the successful business man who operated the best transmission shop in texas.i look forward to reading some positive text about a really hard workink man who was a winner in every sense of the word.mitch wilson pennzoil world of outlaws, haudenschild racing…by the way im proud to tell everyone at race tracks across this country im from waco, texas…
People this story is about a man named Joe Sturdavant being murdered and how he was murdered. It is not about Fred. This is one of the most horrible ways to loose a family member and it leaves a very deep scar on any and everyone involved with the victim. I wish for peace for the family and friends of Joe. Also, it does get easier, it takes time but there will be light, I know it doesnt seem so now but it will. Staying in business for that long says a lot about someone, he must have been a very well respected man.

Two MURDERS within a week. One shot in the back and the other; a woman sliced and stabbed to death in her own home. Welcome to Slaughterhouse Waco.

Fred is a moron. Even his buddies are saying so. Don’t you love the WAY THAT HE USES CAPS?
Perhaps he can read this: ROBINSON not WACO. But then again, it is too much to ask…
He is probably not even from Waco.

Waco’s murder rate is 1.56 times higher than the national average. That’s not good. That’s bad. Real bad.
