Waco gospel music expert on “Fresh Air” this week, but not this afternoon
By Carl Hoover
| Tuesday, December 18, 2007, 12:18 PM
I had an earlier post (scroll to the bottom) about Baylor journalism professor Bob Darden being on the nationally broadcast public radio program “Fresh Air With Terry Gross” at 3 p.m. today (Dec. 18), to talk about his Black Gospel Music Restoration Project at Baylor University with interviewer/host Terry Gross.
Turns out the broadcast date apparently been changed. Brodie Bashaw, station manager of Waco public radio station KWBU, said that in Gross’ pre-interview remarks this morning (the interview was done at KWBU studios) she mentioned the show would air this Thursday.
Bashaw also observed that “Fresh Air’s” music shows often air on Fridays (and with Darden asked to provide about a dozen clips of vintage black gospel music, it sounds like “Fresh Air” may have a music show in mind).
So at this time, it looks like the program on Darden and Baylor’s project to digitalize black gospel music from the 1940s to 1960s will air at 3 p.m. Thursday on KWBU-FM (103.3). If not then, then maybe 3 p.m. Friday. We’ll keep you posted.
“Fresh Air” also has a podcast, should you miss it on whatever day.
