Jazz fest lineup changes - 3 for 1
By Carl Hoover
| Thursday, August 14, 2008, 11:05 AM
The Jazz on the Square festival planned for Aug. 31 at Heritage Square already had a fairly full lineup, but it’s now bigger, even with headliner Wayman Tisdale scratching due to health issues.
Flutist Althea Rene and saxophonist Joseph Vincelli return from last year’s Jazzin’ at the Zoo, joined by local musicians Classie Ballou, Elephants and Mustard Seed (showing off its new jazz trio side). There’s also vocalist Breggett Rideau and the DFW-based Buster Brown Band.
In place of Tisdale, organizer Rick Eddings has secured three more musicians: trumpeter Joey Summerville, guitarist Eric Essix and keyboardist Alex Bugnon.
That’s a 10-band/musician jazz festival. In Waco.
Advance tickets are $30, available at the Waco Hippodrome, or $35 at the gate.
