Mason’s got high achievers, too
A large group of Mason High School students was recognized for their academic success through the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program.
MHS Principal Dave Allen commended the students for their accomplishment. “You all are blessed with talents and gifts,” he said. “You have the ability to do great things.”
Among 16,000 U.S. students competing for National Merit scholarships are 13 MHS semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Mason’s National Merit semi-finalists are: Raia Contractor; Anupama Joseph; Flora Massah; Namratha Sandella; Michael Verleye; Benjamin Wagner; Edward Wang; Ray Wang; Kiersten Wones; Yiling Wu; Tong Zhan; Xiaomin Zhang, and; Charles Zheng.
Mason student Deanna Allbrittin is a semi-finalist and Kendra Washington is a Commended Scholar in the National Achievement Program, recognizing the country’s top African American students.
Twenty-six MHS students were recognized as commended students.
The commended students are: Rachel Barnes; Danial Bernhard; Natalia Carvalho; Lauren Caserta; Swetha Chatla; Peter Chen; Laura Beth Ann Cook; Sarvabhauma Karri; James Langlois; Joyce Li; Anchin Liaw; Kelly Loughead; Zhi Yuan Lu; Ashley Malin; Nirupa Manohar; Nathan McKinley; Boihoan Nguyen; Ester Oh; Jasline Sahota; Drew Sinha; Daniel Sweeney; Raymond Tan; Eric Trexler; Taylor Walston; Eric Wei, and; Courtney Wittekind.
