HMS earns Just
for the Kids Award
Hallsville Middle School received the Just For The Kids Award recently for being recognized as a higher performing school in the area of mathematics by the National Center for Educational Achievement. Superintendent Greg Wright compared the award to receiving Heisman-like recognition.
"This award is given to schools that exhibit high levels of achievement in all demographic areas over several years," Principal Brandon Jones said. "This honor is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of the teachers and staff.
"They renew their commitment every day to give their best for each child that walks through the door of our school. Their passion for success in learning and the compassion they show each child are the reasons our students have been so successful," he added. "I could not be more proud of them for this outstanding accomplishment."
The Just for Kids Award indicates Hallsville Middle School has consistently scored higher in math than 81 percent of the students in schools with similar demographics in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The middle school has also been one of the top performing schools in the state during this time.
Personal credit goes to those who laid the groundwork beginning in the Little Cats, primary, elementary two, intermediate and the entire staff at Hallsville Middle School.
