Thanks to the support from area businesses, individuals, and community groups, the Waskom Volunteer Fire Department had a successful fund-raiser. Jack Dillard did his usual wonderful job as auctioneer and the Waskom High School Cafeteria was made available for the annual event. Catfish Express provided a delicious meal and area cloggers provided entertainment during the meal.
Almost a hundred items were auctioned off and a number of door prizes were given away. Three persons' names were drawn and won Walmart gift cards and the community's generous support of the Waskom VFD was again demonstrated. Two hundred and sixty meals were served on a rainy night, demonstrating the appreciation that persons have for the men and women who donate their time to serve the community as volunteer EMTs and firefighters.
The Waskom Volunteer Fire Department has been providing fire protection since 1952 and EMS services since the late 1980's.
