If you cannot decide what to have for dinner tonight, click up the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service's healthy living Web site for delicious and nutritious recipes and cooking instructions.
"If you want some quick, simple, easy recipes, click on 'What's for dinner tonight,'" said Louraiseal McDonald, Harrison County's extension agent for Family and Consumer Sciences.
Viewers can watch three to five-minute video clips as extension agents give cooking demonstrations on the Web site, http://healthyliving.tamu.edu.
The Web page also offers short, simple recipes to download that are changed weekly, said Ms. McDonald.
"I encourage people to take a look at it," she said.
Ms. McDonald has tried some of the recipes herself and described them as healthy and tasty.
Recipes offered from the site also provide Texas cooks and health-conscious eaters with the nutritional facts for each serving.
While the recipes are nutritional, they are meant for average people and are not geared toward a diabetic or special diet.
Visitors to the Web site may also find:
Healthy living team contacts.
Extension programs to help you stay healthy.
Family nutrition information.
Family and consumer information.
Master Wellness Volunteer Program information.
The "What's for Dinner?" blog.
On the blog, extension agents give shopping tips for selecting the best of each food product for the recipe.
They also dispel food and nutrition myths about ingredients they use in the recipes.
The blog entries are light and candid and a great complementary reading source to the videos.
