NET JET GAME AND CONTROLLER
$24.99 at hasbro.com
Kids love computer games, but seeing them pound the keyboard can be stressful. The Net Jet system solves the problems by putting kid-friendly games directly inside a video game controller. Simply plug the controller into a USB port and fire up the included game. Three more games can be selected online, provided the computer has a working Internet connection. The full-screen games are colorful and fun but best suited for youngsters. More game cartridges are available for about $15 each. Windows-based PC required.
LOGITECH AUDIOHUB
$99.99 at bestbuy.com
The Achilles' heel of most laptops is timid audio. Logitech comes to the rescue with a stylish all-in-one speaker set that also acts as a hub for up to three additional USB devices, such as Web cameras, printers or thumbdrives laden with music. The full sound emanating from the two 2-inch drivers and 3-inch subwoofer is shockingly powerful, more than enough to fill the largest room in the house. An optional stand provides a permanent perch for a Web camera, including clip-on models or the larger ones that typically rest atop CRTs. Works immediately with Windows XP and Vista without the need for additional drivers. USB port required.
