'Couples Retreat' is far from paradise
Christy Lemire
The Associated Press
"A few funny lines and ideas emerge here and there ... but 'Couples Retreat' mostly feels repetitive and overlong at nearly two hours. You wouldn't mind getting voted off this island."

What was the point of this movie?

One Opinion
"This movie is full of minority stereotypes. The movie began by portraying the minority male as having credit, financial problems and being divorced. The other non-black males were portrayed as still married and managing their financial affairs. Let's not forget the young minority female who is portrayed as being rude, uneducated, ghetto attitude and materialistic.
The movie was so intent on stereotyping minorities that the script lacked any real creativity. Don't waste your time or money on this movie. "

Funny Enough

"If you are looking for a few good laughs on a rainy day, this movie will do the trick. I wouldn't rate it as a block buster but having a few failed relationships under my belt helped me appreciate both the humor and struggles the couples encounter (although most of these are not earth shattering). It gave me the laughs and temporary escape I was looking for. "
