Professor dies after motorcycle accident Friday

Wiley College professor Valentyn Siniak died on Friday night after injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident.

Siniak, 37, was driving his motorcycle westbound on US Highway 80 when a Dodge pick-up, traveling eastbound on US Highway 80 attempted to turn north onto Loop 390, when the collision occurred.

He was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall, where he later died.

Siniak was an assistant professor of biology at Wiley for six years, and was an adjunct professor at East Texas Baptist University for two years from 2004 to 2006.

He previously worked as an anesthesiologist in the Ukraine for three years, before he started teaching in Texas.

No citations were issued at the time of the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
