Kilgore's Conrod takes top honors

Trey Conrod helped keep the Kilgore Bulldogs atop the standings in District 16-3A by averaging 23 points, 9.9 rebounds and four assists in wins over Chapel Hill and Gladewater.
For his efforts, Conrod has been named ETvarsity.com's Player of the Week for games played Dec. 6-11.
Conrod opened the week by scoring 22 points, collecting 10 rebounds and dishing out six assists in an 80-62 win over Gladewater. On Friday, he scored 24 points and added nine rebounds, two assists and five steals in a 61-50 win over Chapel Hill that moved the Bulldogs to 13-7 overall and 3-0 in league play.
In other outstanding performances from around East Texas:
Longview's <em style="bold">Dorian Leonard</em> scored 26 points and added four steals in a 66-61 loss to Rockwall.
Whitehouse's <em style="bold">Jake Parker</em> finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds and teammate Patrick Mahomes added 14 points and 10 boards in a 70-65 win over Marshall.
Marshall's <em style="bold">Tiandre Jackson-Young</em> connected on 10 of 14 shots from the floor and finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Whitehouse. Teammate <em style="bold">T.J. Maxfield</em> had 13 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and six steals in a 92-49 win over Hallsville.
Gilmer's <em style="bold">Malik Jackson</em> finished with 21 points and nine steals in a 61-53 win over Spring Hill.
White Oak's <em style="bold">Hayden Nichols</em> finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 73-36 win over Jefferson.
Tatum's <em style="bold">Jahee Johnson</em> scored 17 points to go along with three assists and three steals - and was 7-for-7 from the free throw line - in a 109-30 win over Elysian Fields.
Harmony's <em style="bold">Levi Thompson</em> collected 17 rebounds in a 68-49 loss to West Rusk and had 10 points, 14 rebounds and four steals in a 63-48 loss to Sabine.
Sabine's <em style="bold">Ivan Padron</em> finished with 29 points and seven steals, and teammate <em style="bold">Cody Sauce</em> had 12 points and seven steals in a 68-61 win over Arp. The Cardinals' <em style="bold">O'Shean Jagot</em> had 27 points and seven steals, and Sauce added 12 points, seven assists and 10 steals in a win over Harmony.
Union Grove's <em style="bold">Garrett Gibson</em> finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in a 69-50 win over New Diana.
Hawkins' <em style="bold">Lavon Davis</em> scored 26 points in a 73-40 win over Troup.
Christian Heritage School's <em style="bold">Ashton Jones</em> scored 26 points and added six assists and seven steals in a 59-50 win over Trinity. Teammate <em style="bold">Leo Conner</em> added 10 rebounds and five assists.
East Texas Christian School's <em style="bold">Jeremiah Armstrong</em> scored 29 points to go along with 15 rebounds, 20 steals and five assists in a 49-45 win over CHS-Tyler.
Longview Christian School's <em style="bold">Caleb Cammack</em> scored 27 points, and teammates <em style="bold">Hunter Reaves</em> (17) and <em style="bold">Josh Stauts</em> (16) combined for 33 rebounds in a 53-48 win over Nacogdoches Home School. In a 44-41 loss to CHAAMPS, <em style="bold">Gabe Rabenhorst</em> finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Tatum is ranked fifth in Class 2A in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Association weekly poll.
Other ranked East Texas teams include Athens (12) and Central (23) in Class 3A, Laneville (3), Douglass (7), Miller Grove (15) and Avinger (23) in Class A Division II and Grapeland (2), Martin's Mill (6), San Augustine (8), Tenaha (9), La Poynor (13) and North Hopkins (15) in Class A Division I.
Top-ranked teams this week are Converse Judson in 5A, Beaumont Central in 4A, Dallas Madison in 3A, Brock in 2A, Oakwood in Class A Division II and Mumford in Class A Division I.
