Equipment monitoring SE Texas sinkhole
DAISETTA, Texas — Sensing equipment has been installed to monitor whether that sprawling sinkhole in Texas is growing.
It's been nearly one week since the gap opened near Daisetta (day-ZET'-uh), about 60 miles northeast of Houston.
No injuries have been reported.
The spread has reached up to 900 feet wide and 250 feet deep.
The U.S. Geological Survey is working to monitor the hole.
Concerns have been raised that any heavy rain could further destabilize the area.
Nearby Farm-to-Market Road 770 remains closed.
