Model trains and train enthusiasts filled the Marshall Civic Center as the Texas and Pacific Railway Museum's fifth annual Model Train Show began Saturday.
People from throughout the region explored exhibits and sales from several organizations, including the Ark-La-Tex Modular Club. The group is just one of many dedicated to helping others by simply sharing their love for trains.

The club's focus is to use trains to go beyond language barriers and social backgrounds to bring joy to the community.
Many of the members are Masons volunteering on behalf of Texas and Louisiana Shriner hospitals.
"Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth," club member Ernie DeWolf said.
Members visit many of the Texas and Louisiana Shriner hospitals twice each year. Some of the model train exhibits are also displayed at the hospitals.
"The week after school is out is the worst week for the hospitals, which is why we choose to go during that time," DeWolf said. They also visit around the Christmas holidays to provide support to children whose parents are unable to be there around-the-clock.
"We don't accept any form of payment or donation for hosting these shows," DeWolf said. "We just want to see the smile on the children's faces."
He believes the train knows no boundaries and is something the next generation can share with others. Club members simply strive to be "good citizens and teach others to do so as well," DeWolf said.
The train show continues today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the civic center.
Admission to the show is $5 for adults and free for children ages 12 and younger.
