County to discuss personnel

Monday, October 12, 2009

Personnel changes are among the items the Harrison County Commissioners Court will take up during its meeting Tuesday.

The meeting is at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners' Courtroom on the third floor of the Harrison County Courthouse.

The Harrison County Road and Bridge Department and the Harrison County Environmental Health Department have requested approval of personnel changes.

The court will also consider a discretionary exemption from the competitive sealed bid process for a land purchase. The county recently approved the purchase of more than 12 acres of land on Farm-to-Market Road 31 at a price of $12,000 an acre for the construction of a jail.

The court will also consider approval of an application to the 2009-2010 IDM grant to combat driving while intoxicated.

Two road sign changes also will be considered by the court. One is to change the yield sign at the intersection of County Road 4717 (Baker Lane) and County Road 4718 (Liberty Road West) to a stop sign. The other request is for a No Parking on Right of Way sign to be placed on County Road 3520 (Lawrence Road).

In other business, the court is expected to:

Consider a utility application for Elysian Fields WSC on Floyd Evans Road (County Road 1203).

Approve a final plat for the private Matthews Subdivision.

Approve the On-Site Sewage Facilities Order for Harrison County as approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Accept a donation of 12 leather chairs worth $792 from Danny Aiello for the Harrison County Airport.

Accept a $1,000 donation from EXCO Production Company to be deposited in the Auto Maintenance Budget.

Approve quarterly UPL payments of $93,011 to the state for credit for Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall.

Approve a notice of a special election for Emergency Services District No. 6 and for the constitutional amendment election of Nov. 3.

Proclaim October as United Way Month.

Act to establish a local data advisory board to prepare a data reporting improvement plan for the county per the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Hear reports from department heads.
