Early voting very slow

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Extremely slow, but anticipated was how Election Administrator Pam Brock described the first day of early voting for three elections.

On Nov. 3, voters are being asked to decide the fate of 11 Constitutional amendments as well as the creation of Emergency Services District No. 6 and the share-the-wealth option for Karnack ISD.

"It's what we anticipated," she said.

According to Ms. Brock, 36 votes were cast in the amendment election, two for the ESD and none for the Karnack issue.

"Only two came in who were eligible to vote (in the ESD election). I really believe they are waiting to vote as a community" when a voting site opens next week in Woodlawn, she said. "I don't look for a large turnout here."

Ms. Brock believes that Karnack voters also are waiting for the voting site to open there next week as well.
