Texas State Technical College-Marshall will play host to 25 different companies and several colleges when the school has its semi-annual Industry Career Day Event Thursday.
The event will start at 9 a.m.
TSTC Placement Director Vanessa Davis said TSTC students have been preparing for the event for weeks, attending job interview and resume workshops to sharpen their skills. She said the school has also provided training sessions for students, schooling them on proper business attire and etiquette.
Business representatives will begin the day with a continental breakfast while setting up booths and displays, according to a TSTC press release.
From 9 a.m. to noon, students will be able to visit individual booths inside the South Building, 2615 East End Blvd.
Ms. Davis said it's possible some students may be hired on the spot. She said companies from the East Texas area as well as Schlumberger in Sugarland and Harrah's Louisiana Downs will be on hand. Such companies as Entergy, AEP/SWEPCO and Energy Future Holdings, in addition, will be in attendance.
Several four-year colleges, including Lamar University, Texas A&M Commerce and the University of Texas-Tyler will also be at the event.
As an extra incentive to bolster involvement, many of the businesses will provide give-away items and door prizes, according to a TSTC press release. Guests will also be treated to a catered lunch.
"Now is the time to make a positive first impression," Vice President of Student Learning Dr. Irene Cravey stated in a press release.
