The Harrison County Airport Advisory Board held a closed meeting Wednesday afternoon, refusing to let a reporter sit in on the discussion in the airport conference room.
Harrison County Judge Richard Anderson said the board discussed proposed bylaws. He said a copy of the bylaws will be available to The Marshall News Messenger today.
"They voted to recognize the adoption of the bylaws at the next county commissioners meeting," said Anderson.
"They established regular meeting dates, and the bylaws will be much more specific than the original bylaws adopted in 1997."
Meetings will be quarterly unless called for a special purpose.
Following the session, board member Doyle Curry said members were concerned about hearsay in the community.
"There was also discussion about problems and rumors going on from Speak Out," he said.
Among concerns members had heard were that churches would be shut down. "And, their church is not anywhere near the airport," Curry said.
Other topics the board member recalled included:
Recommending county commissioners clarify the duties and responsibilities of airport manager Danny Aiello.
A discussion by Judge Ed Smith about the Airport Zoning Board's recent meeting.
Receiving an update of the engineering action plan made several years ago.
Creating a draft of minimum standards of insurance requirements for anyone who drives on the runways and near planes. The insurance standards may restrict the amount of traffic allowed onto the airport's runways, Curry said.
