East Texas Baptist University senior defender Jenna Jones has been named the American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Jones, a captain and three-time All-ASC defender for the Lady Tigers, spearheaded a defensive unit that produced back-to-back 1-0 shutouts this past weekend that helped ETBU clinch a spot in the ASC Tournament for the first time since 2006.

Jones, playing in the back of the defense, helped ETBU allow just four shots on goal in nearly 205 minutes of game action over the weekend against Ozarks and Texas-Dallas. The 1-0 win over UTD on Saturday in double overtime clinched ETBU's postseason berth with two games to go.

The Lady Tigers close out the conference schedule this weekend with games at Louisiana College on Thursday and at Mississippi College on Saturday.
