A third Jefferson player has announced his intentions of playing top-tier college football next fall.
Trevor Murphy became the third member of the Bulldogs to pledge to an NCAA Bowl Subdivision school Wednesday when he verbally committed to Colorado State.
Murphy joins teammates Destin Mosley and Clarence Lee, who each have verbal pledges to Kansas State and Houston, respectively.
Murphy told online recruiting source rivals.com that the Rams are looking at him as a defensive lineman, a position he has played since his freshman season in Jefferson.
The 6-foot, 3-inch, 275-pound senior currently plays both ways for the Bulldogs (4-4), who will travel to Linden-Kildare for a key District 17-2A game Friday.
Murphy has racked up 34 tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack so far this season. He also has one forced fumble.
He was named The News Messenger's All-Harrison/Marion Counties' Defensive Player of the Year after his junior season last year.
Murphy is rated as a three-star recruit by rivals.com and also boasts offers from Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin and Texas-El Paso.
