Perch Perspectives, a human-centric business and political consulting firm that applies geopolitical expertise to business strategy, announced today that Gwen Young has joined the company as vice president of business development and global consulting.

Young brings more than 25 years of international public service and deep subject matter expertise to Perch Perspectives’ growing team of researchers, writers and analysts. She is a well-known expert on African politics and affairs as well as public policy, NGOs and nonprofits, international affairs and humanitarian efforts around the world. She is also a leading advocate for women’s rights and gender equity worldwide.

In her new role, Young will oversee business development initiatives and client engagements as well as provide strategic expertise and analysis. Leveraging her global mindset and multidisciplinary experience, she will be responsible for facilitating engagements and collaboration between the public and private sectors on behalf of Perch Perspectives’ clients.

Prior to joining Perch Perspectives, Young was the managing director of the Global Emergency Response Coalition, the first life-saving humanitarian alliance in the U.S., and was a senior adviser at Global Impact, a nonprofit dedicated to building partnerships and resources for the world’s most vulnerable people. Throughout her career, Young was a practicing attorney and worked as a legal, policy and advocacy consultant for numerous public policy and nonprofit organizations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Africare—where she directed community health, microfinance and agricultural programs in Senegal. She has worked in both the private and public sectors on issues of health care delivery, agricultural productivity, supply chain development and global women’s issues.

Young holds a juris doctorate in international law from the University of California - Davis, a master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree in government and international relations from Smith College.
