Al Roker Surprises 'Today' Colleagues With Early Return After Surgery

Even surgery can't keep Al Roker away from his Today family for too long!

The meteorologist is still recovering from his most recent knee replacement procedure (his third, to be exact), but unexpectedly popped up on his co-anchors of the news broadcast on May 25, to their visible delight.

Roker, 68, shocked Sheinelle JonesCraig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer right as they were about to segue into a commercial, following a National Wine Day segment.

The weatherman—from off-camera—yelled, "Ah ha ha ha!" prompting Dreyer to scream and set her wine glass down. Shortly after, the hosts realized it was Roker, before embracing him with hugs.

Melvin asked the Queens, New York, native, "What's up, brother?" also telling him, "Good to see you!"

"We weren't expecting that — clearly!” he added.

Roker sported a navy blazer over a pink polo shirt, paired with matching pants, sneakers and a white fedora hat, strutting over to his cohosts with the help of a walking cane.

Today reported that Jones said they were expecting to see Roker that day, but not live on the show, as the weatherman revealed he was set to return to the morning show next Tuesday.

With the surprise appearance, he also gave an update on how he's recovering post-surgery. "I am doing fine. It is good to see all of you. I'm going to be honest. I've had a number of replacements, knee replacements. It’s not a big surprise,” Roker said. “This one has been the toughest one yet because they had to take out the old one, which had some complications, and then put in a new one.”

Medical situation aside, it seems nothing can take away Al's jolly disposition!
