Ten new drilling permits have been issued in Harrison and Marion Counties since March 8, online records from the Texas Railroad Commission show:

Rockcliff Energy Operating LLC was issued two new drill permits for horizontal wells five miles southeast of Waskom on April 12, a new drill permit for a horizontal well 5.5 miles northeast of Elysian Fields on March 8, a new drill permit for a horizontal well 5.5 miles northeast of Elysian Fields on March 13 and a new drill permit for a vertical well 3.5 miles northwest of Elysian Fields on March 19.

Sabine Oil & Gas Corporation was issued two new drill permits for horizontal wells 15.5 miles southeast of Marshall. One was issued April 12, the other April 19.

Sheridan Production Company LLC was issued a recompletion permit for a vertical well six miles southwest of Waskom on March 12.

Brooks Petroleum Company was issued a new drill permit for a horizontal well 3.6 miles west of Harleton on March 20.

Enerquest Corporation was issued a new drill permit for a vertical well 13.75 miles southwest of Jefferson on April 2.

The Railroad Commission of Texas (Commission) issued a total of 1,137 original drilling permits in March 2019 compared 1,220 in March 2018.

The March 2019 total included 1,005 permits to drill new oil or gas wells, 14 to re-enter plugged well bores and 118 for re-completions of existing well bores. The breakdown of well types for those permits is 315 oil, 69 gas, 688 oil or gas, 56 injection, one service and eight other permits.

According to Baker Hughes Inc., the Texas rig count as of April 5 was 499, representing about 49 percent of all active rigs in the United States.
