Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods pharmacies expect to receive their initial COVID-19 vaccine allotments on Christmas Eve and are encouraging those currently eligible to get the vaccine to schedule an appointment.
Individuals who are frontline healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities are part of the first phase of the vaccination plan rollout.
Locally, the Super 1 Foods pharmacy on East End Boulevard is set to receive 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week.
Brookshire Grocery Co. spokesperson Morgan Countryman said those individuals who want to get the vaccine should call their pharmacy and schedule an appointment (dial 0 when calling).
The pharmacy will ask for a badge or ID to confirm that each vaccine recipient is the targeted frontline health care group.
“The general public is not eligible for the vaccine at this time per state guidelines,” Countryman said. “We will keep our customers and communities updated as this process continues and we move through the multi-phase rollout that will allow us to offer the vaccine to the general public in the near future. We are proud to support the goal of keeping our communities safe by offering this vaccine. Providing this service will help maximize efforts to stop the spread of the COVID-19.”
