The National Bank of Texas at Fort Worth (NBT) and holding company, Horizon Bankshares Inc, would like to announce that Steve Parker has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for the bank.
Parker is a 1980 graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington business school with a BBA in Marketing and of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.
Prior to coming to NBT, Parker was an examiner with the FDIC, Vice President at Texas Independent Bank, Dallas and Executive Vice President at Lake Worth National Bank.
In 1989, Parker joined First National Bank of Azle (later First Bank) where he served as an executive vice president. Parker was promoted to president and CEO in 2004 and remained in that role until 2009, when the bank was sold to Pinnacle Bank.
Parker joined NBT in September 2010 as president of NBT’s Azle Bank, where he continued to serve until his retirement in December 2017. Parker was elected to NBT’s board in March 2011. He has over 40 years of banking experience.
Parker is a 1973 graduate of Marshall High School and worked part time for the Marshall News Messenger during his high school years.
He has been active in the Azle community since 1989 and is a former Azle Citizen of the Year in 1996 and former president of the Azle Chamber of Commerce, Azle Rotary Club and the Azle Library Trust.
Prior to his move to Azle, he was active in the Lake Worth community, serving as city councilman, chamber president and was elected Lake Worth’s Citizen of the Year in 1987.
Parker is married to Lee Ann, his wife of 34 years, and they are the parents of two adult children, Stephanie, who is a Doctor of Physical Therapy in California and JD, who is a CPA with Deloitte.
