Candice Rae Hostetler and Derek Layne Morris

Candice Rae Hostetler and Derek Layne Morris were united in marriage on Saturday, the third of November, 2012, at six o’clock in the evening at the Rayne Memorial United Memorial Methodist Church Sanctuary in the Upper Garden District area of New Orleans, Louisiana. Senior Pastor, Callie Winn Crawford performed the ceremony.
A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the historic Columns Hotel, named for its grand, columned porch. Located on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line and directly across the Avenue from the Rayne Memorial United Methodist Sanctuary, the Columns Hotel served guests a fusion of Southern and Creole-style cuisine and hand-poured cocktails. Guests were entertained and danced to music provided by Crescent City Music and Smitty D’s Jazz Trio. After the reception, the couple led guests in a traditional New Orleans second line parade. A Grand Marshal and a five-piece jazz band guided the couple and their party on a 15-minute parade route throughout the Garden District.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at Jacque Imo’s in Uptown New Orleans on the eve of the wedding. A bridal brunch honoring the bride and her attendants was given by Barbara Marshall, Janett Jolley, and Stacey Tucker the morning prior to the ceremony in the Josephine Room at Le Pavillon Hotel.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a champagne-colored, satin, fit and flare dress adorned with Swarovski crystals. The bride carried a simple bouquet of white roses which was wrapped with a handmade cuff encrusted with Swarovski stones to match her dress.
Candice chose her long-time friend from college, Lindsey Carpenter of Dallas, Texas as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Anne Cacioppo Moore of Marshall, Texas and Jessica Browning of Brooklyn, New York, both friends of the bride. Austen Morris of Houston, Texas served as Derek’s best man. Groomsmen were Ragan Morris of Leander, Texas and Blaine Morris of Houston, Texas. All of the groom’s attendants are brothers of the groom. Henry Cook of Houston, Texas, son of friends of the bride and groom, served as the ring bearer.
