Caroline is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Glen Dowell of Lexington, Kentucky. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. John E. McLendon of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Marshall and Mrs. Robert Glen Dowell of Franklin, Kentucky. Caroline is the great-granddaughter of the late Judge and Mrs. Sam B. Hall Sr. of Marshall, Texas. Caroline graduated from Sayre School in Lexington, Kentucky, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was presented at the Blue Grass Charity Debutante Ball in Lexington, Kentucky. Caroline is employed with Cyc Fitness of Atlanta, Georgia.
Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Paul Thompson of Charleston, West Virginia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Naomi Krieg of Charleston, West Virginia. Michael graduated from Heritage Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and the University of Kentucky. He is a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Michael is Vice-President in the Asset Management Division of J. P. Morgan, the New York based bank.
Caroline was escorted by her father. She was wearing a white brocade, strapless, fit and flare gown with a modified sweetheart neckline. It featured a peplum tiered detail with beaded trim at the natural waistline. The chapel train was highlighted with pleated accents. Caroline carried a bouquet of magnolia, boxwood, pine, holly, stephanotis, white roses and hypericum berries. It was accented with tiny gold Christmas balls. Her bouquet was wrapped with tulle from her mother’s veil, and she borrowed her great-grandmother’s sapphire ring.
Elizabeth Dowell, of Louisville, Kentucky, the bride’s twin sister, was maid of honor. Bridal attendants were Stacy Blair of Atlanta, Georgia, Wells Bullard of Lexington, Kentucky, Allison Fox of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Clare Lundy of Nashville, Tennessee, Natalie Proctor and Kate MacNeil of New York, New York, Marissa O’Conner of Phoenix, Arizona, Halle Organ of Chicago, Illinois, and Morgan Pieper of Dallas, Texas. Junior bridesmaid was Elizabeth Anne Palmer of Marshall, Texas. Flower girls were Sarah Jane Palmer and Madeleine Smith of Marshall, Texas.
The attendants wore pine green silk dupioni full length sheaths with a peplum, while carrying Christmas greenery of magnolia, boxwood and pine. White roses and red berries complemented the bouquet. The flower girls wore ivory and green silk dupioni dresses and carried boxwood kissing balls, accented with red berries and ribbon. Ivy angel halos were worn in their hair.
Ryan Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina, served his brother as best man. Grooms’ attendants were James Adkins and Thomas Pearcy of Charleston, West Virginia, Daniel Baynes, Harding Dowell, Tanner Shultz of Lexington, Kentucky, Tyler Beam, Clark King, Blaine McLaughlin, Clark Orr, Hunter Rankin, Dean Wilkinson and Zan Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky, Nate Morris of Washington, D.C., Matt Parker of New Orleans, Louisiana, and David Picotte of Columbus, Ohio.

A bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted at Dudley’s on Short by Sara Jim Blair, Janice MacNeil, Cathy Burgess of Lexington, Kentucky, and Becky Palmer and Amanda Wynn of Marshall, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael P. Thompson, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Iroquois Hunt Club. Michael P. Thompson, father of the groom, hosted a grooms’ luncheon at Dudley’s on Short.
A reception was held following the ceremony at Idle Hour Country Club, hosted by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. David G. Dowell of Lexington, Kentucky.
Following a move to Atlanta, Georgia, the couple will honeymoon on Paradise Island.
