Mrs. Joshua Melton
Joshua Melton and Sarah Shaughnessy, both of Houston, were married at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Central Baptist Church in Marshall.
The bride is the daughter of Tim Shaughnessy and Mable McKnight of Longview and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Walsh of Marshall. She is the granddaughter of Eunice Bettis of Marshall, the late Wallace Bettis of Marshall, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shaughnessy of El Paso and the late Alice Shaughnessy of El Paso. Sarah is a graduate of Marshall, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor degree from St. Marys University School of Law. She is an oil and gas attorney with Latham & Watkins, LLP in Houston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Melton of Grenada, Miss., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Homer Melton of Jackson, Tenn., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Caffie Wilson of Lexington, Tenn. Joshua is a graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, Miss., and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mississippi State University. He is a graphic designer at AlphaGraphics in Sugar Land.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Tim Shaughnessy. James Melton, father of the groom, officiated the ceremony. Music was provided by P&A Strings, a string quartet, and vocalist Caren Shaughnessy, sister of the bride.
Maid of honor was Caren Shaughnessy of Houston. Bridesmaids were Kristin Lee of Houston, Marla Morales of Arlington, Va., Erica Thonsgard of Houston and Elizabeth Bradshaw of Marshall. Keri Harris, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.
The best man was Jeromy Sherman of Houston. Groomsmen were Michael Blackmon of Fort Worth, Detric Stanciel of Southaven, Miss., Jason Thompson of Denver, Colo., and Kent Hollier of Denver, Colo. Serving as ushers were Sean Powers of Washington, D.C., friend of the bride; and Jeremiah Kirklin of Montgomery, Texas, friend of the groom.
The reception was held at the Marshall Visual Arts Center. The couple will reside in Houston.
