The “Mighty” Southern Region of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. recently celebrated its 90th Leadership Conference in Shreveport, Louisianan, where it was established.
Members of the historic and award-winning Marshall chapter, Upsilon Zeta, attended and received specialized training for implementing programs for the next two years.
Upsilon Zeta has been recognized in the past for its consistent and long-term dedication to elder care at Marshall Manor and other Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excelle) programs.
The Upsilon Zeta Chapter sponsors The Stork’s Nest (in cooperation with the March of Dimes), which provides training and baby supplies for expectant mothers. In recent years, the chapter also adopted the Marshall Pregnancy Resource Center.
While in Shreveport, Upsilon Zeta was recognized for its annual Finer Womanhood Celebration, which is held on the second Saturday in March. A woman of the year and community programs are recognized for their service to Marshall.
Angela Fitzpatrick was recognized as Woman of the Year in March. Also recognized were the New Bethel MBC after school tutoring program and Bethesda BC youth ministry.
Upsilon Zeta Officers for 2019-21 include: president Mildred Savannah, 1st vice president Lea Harden, 2nd vice president DonNya Robinson, 3rd vice president Delores Tennison, secretary Kristen Tennison, assistant secretary Patricia Harden, financial secretary Rachel Else, treasurer Bettye Fisher, parliamentarian Alice Copeland and public relations chair ShaKeitha Knox.
