Wednesday is a big day for football fans if they want to secure tickets for two of the bigger games on Marshall's 2011 schedule.
The Mavericks will participate in the inaugural Battle on the Border High School football showcase, but tickets are available for a limited time at the Marshall ISD athletic office.
Game time is set for 3 p.m., Sept. 10 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport against C.E. Byrd, the second of three games.
Prices are $10 compared to $15 at the gate, and the office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Tickets give fans admission to all three games at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
"This is a showcase in every sense of the word," Marshall coach Alex Richters said. "It's going to be a great venue with a high level of football being played, and it's going to be a great experience for our school and community. We want to pack the stadium with a sea of red."
The final day to purchase these tickets is Wednesday, also the first day to buy tickets for the much-anticipated matchup against rival Longview on Friday.
Those tickets are on sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon on game day.
Prices are $5 for adults (800 tickets available), $3 for students (400) and $6 at the gate if any are still remaining.
There are no reserved tickets, as all seating will be general admission.
"We expect to be swamped Wednesday and Thursday (for Longview tickets)," Marshall Athletic Business Manager Stephanie Hammers said. "We've received calls the last several weeks to reserve tickets, but they absolutely will not go on sale until 8 a.m. on Wednesday."
Tickets for regular-season games (home and away) are on sale the week of each particular game from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Marshall's first home game of 2011 is slated for Sept. 2 against Shreveport Huntington.
