The clink of change will go ring-a-ding at the Rat Pack-themed Casino Night, Saturday, to benefit Marshall's new animal shelter.
"There's going to be all types of gaming including, blackjack, roulette and craps. There will be a bingo hall in side room. We are going to transform two levels of Central Perks to a Las Vegas casino of the 1960s," President of Friends of Marshall Animals Amanda Smith said. "The promotional materials say black tie or Rat Pack attire requested, but it is optional. No one is expected to dress out, but if you want to go all-out, by all means. We'd love that."
Friends of Marshall Animals will be hosting the event from 6 to 10 p.m. at Central Perks, at 211 N Washington.
"All money made by Friends of Marshall Animals will go towards a new animal shelter and equipping it," Smith said. "Our goal is to have a large amount of money available to make the shelter as successful as possible and support its programs."
Tickets may be purchased at Pinkee Grace, at 210 N. Washington, by calling (903) 935-5232 or by visiting fofma.com. Tickets are $75, which include $50 in chips with unlimited gaming, commemorative photos and access to the open bar, appetizers and dessert buffet.
"I hope people come out because it is a good cause. Our shelter turns 50 years old this year; the average age of a shelter is 17," Smith said, adding she hopes Casino Night will become an annual event. "Since this is our first one, we wanted to make it, really reasonable, show off what a good time it will be so it will become an exciting yearly thing for people."
