UPDATE: Waskom Police Department said on Tuesday that another charge was added to Waskom man Rolando Johnson, aka "Book," 29.

Unlawful possession of firearm by a felon was the latest charge Johnson picked up.

He is being held in the Harrison County Jail on a total bond of $32,500.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Waskom Police Department arrested a Waskom man Friday for evading arrest and officials said he is suspected in a number of recent thefts in the area.

Rolando Johnson, aka "Book", 29, was arrested on a charge of evading arrest or detention.

"When officers approached Rolando Johnson to attempt to make contact with him to question him about recent thefts and trespassing in the Waskom area; Rolando Johnson fled when he saw officers approaching and ran into a nearby house located on South Hearne," a release from WPD.

"After approximately 30 minutes of remaining in the house and refusing to come out, Rolando Johnson ran out of the back door of the house and fled from officers, once again, only to be apprehended after a short foot pursuit."

The release said more charges are pending.
