Community Healthcore, Cypress Women set prom at Marshall Grand
Feb. 17, 2017 at 4 a.m.
Community Healthcore has partnered with Cypress Junior Women's Club to hold the first ever Sweetheart Prom from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Marshall Grand.
This is a special prom open to anyone with all abilities, aged 16 and older.
"We are so excited to have this event. This is an inclusion event, and we are really excited to build relationships, partnership and support for these individuals in our area," said Patti Brady, Community Healthcore's ADRC Outreach Coordinator.
Not only will attendees experience the prom atmosphere, they will also enjoy several hours of pampering at no charge.
"Generously, Panola College cosmetology students will be at the Marshall Grand on Saturday to do hair and makeup free of charge," Brady said.
Community members also donated gently used and new prom dresses, men's dress shirts and ties for attendees to wear. Those coming to the prom were able to pick out their outfits earlier this week, and will arrive at the Marshall Grand several hours before the dance begins for hair and makeup.
About 75 people are expected to attend the Sweetheart Prom, and both Community Healthcore and CJWC hope to make the dance an annual event.
Those sponsoring the event are: Panola College, East Texas Baptist University, Healthcare Express, ETX Council on Aging and Disability Resource Center, Community Healthcore, Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, Hilary Hope Photography, Sassy B's Tees, and DJ Services are being provided by Steven & Kiley Karaoke and DJ Services.
