HALLSVILLE — Shane Goswick proved to be the victor in Saturday’s Hallsville ISD trustee runoff election in a tight race against opponent Larry Ward, results show.

The Place 1 board of trustee seat was left vacant by former trustee Monty Meissner.

Ward received 259 votes or 48.78 percent of the vote and Goswick garnered 272 votes or 51.22 percent.

The candidates initially faced off in the May 4 election. Goswick, Ward and candidate Cody Holloway, all newcomers, vied for the Place 1 seat during the May 4 elections.

Goswick drew in the most votes with 309, while Ward garnered 223 and Holloway collected 167 votes. A runoff was requested after Goswick failed to earn the majority of the votes needed to secure the seat.
