MARSHALL Beloved father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, treasured brother and uncle, Harold Edwin Summers, age 97, passed away in Marshall, Texas on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. He was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on December 25, 1922 to George Pleasant Summers and Lona Myrtle (Glidewell) Summers. Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Ometa Summers; grandchildren, Ronnie and Mary Jane; great-grandchild, Joshua; brother, William Summers; and sisters, Margaret Summers, Mary Grace Green, Doris Ammons and Patsy Newton. He is survived by his children, Bulah Faye Newman (Lyle), Carolyn Marie Estes (Roy), Shirley Ann Thompson (Ronnie), Vickie Edwina Conger (Robert), Darrell Gene Summers and Harold Dean Summers; grandchildren, Wendy, Elizabeth, Letha, Lyle, Jennifer, Jason, Ashley and Arielle; great-granchildren, J.T., Justin, Joshua, Waylon, Weldon, Parker, Lauryn, Jack, Trajean, Karlee, Haleigh, Devin, Aubree, Jazzlyn, Luceni, Henry, Everett, Louren, Dillon, Nick and Thomas; great-great grandchildren, Emma Louise, Aurora, Raven, Alice and Aliyah; his brother, Hubert Lee Buck Summers; his special friend and love of his life, Charleen Carrington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends who knew and loved him. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and later worked as a carpenter and as a pastor for many years. He was employed with the Ramada Inn until his retirement. Harold was a gifted gardener and loved eating the food he grew. He also loved to read the Bible and to talk about the Lord. He continued driving until June 2020, often attending senior citizen dances in Hallsville and Marshall. Harold had a strong love for all his nieces and nephews and his greatest joy was spending time with all of his cherished loved ones. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Visitation for Harold will be Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 4pm-8pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 11:00am at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hogan officiating. Interment to follow the service at Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
