Thumbs up: Wiley College graduates Felix Ekwueme, 25, Scot Pippen Inyanza, 23, Russell Jones, 27, and current senior Michael Sakala, 25, recently launched their new mobile app called "Tell 'Em." The app sounds neat and we are always glad to see local grads going out and making their dreams happen. We wish them lots of success.

Thumbs up: Marshall Marshall volunteers are working with second-grade students at Price T. Young Elementary School every Monday through Wednesday from now until the end of the semester to help improve student literacy.

Thumbs up: Many of Marshall's community groups and organizations united together for a time of networking and fellowship at the first Linking Leisurely event at the Marshall Convention Center. We hope many fruitful connections will grow from this event.

Thumbs up: The Marshall Pregnancy Resource Center, also known as Living Alternatives, raised a little more than $10,000 at its recent second annual Links for Life golf tourney held at Marshall Lakeside Country Club. This organization does a lot for the city and we're glad so many support it.

Thumbs up: The cast of Hallsville High School theatre department's fall musical "Shrek the Musical," is in character and have been working hard to show community members their take on the popular Dreamworks' fairytale movie "Shrek." The show opened Thursday and continues today and Sunday. It looks like a wonderful time for the whole family and we encourage all to attend.

Thumbs up: The Marshall High School Band, the "Big Red Pride," scored a First Division rating at the annual UIL Region 4 Marching Band Contest in Mount Pleasant. All three judges at the contest awarded Marshall a "1" rating for its performance.
