Capping off an already stellar postseason award list, East Texas Baptist University baseball player Casey Combs has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American First Team as a catcher.

He is the first ABCA All-American first team selection for ETBU since 2005 and the fourth player to be an ABCA All-American.

Combs becomes the first player in program history to be named to two All-Americans first teams in one season as he was honored by both ABCA and Trey Luster was the last player to be named to the first team in 2005. Conner Combs, Casey’s brother, was a two-time ABC All-American second team selection in 2016 and 2017 while Tyler Bates was on the second team in 2016.

Already selected as ABCA All-West Region, this is the fourth major award for Combs in his senior season being named American Southwest Conference Player of the Year and wAll-ASC first team, CoSIDA Academic All-District, and All-American first team and West All-Region Player of the Year.

He hit .417 with 68 hits on the year and drove in 48 RBI collecting 13 homers and 19 stolen bases.

He helped ETBU to their third 30-win season in four years and fifth straight ASC Tournament appearance.
