HALLSVILLE 60, LINDALE 44: HALLSVILLE — The Hallsville Bobcats overcame a slow start to rally for a 60-44 win over the Lindale Eagles.

Benjamin Samples scored 15 points to pace Hallsville, which trailed 10-4 after one quarter but outscored the Eagles 25-11 in the second to lead 29-21 at the break.

Taylor Sheffield added nine for Hallsville. Luke Cheatham, Zachar Florence and Anthon McDermott added eight apiece, Tanner Benson six and Austin Almond, Trenton Smith and David Ruff two each.

The Bobcats hosted Tyler Legacy Saturday and will take on Chapel Hill on Friday.


marshall 49, grand saline 31: Marshall’s girls basketball team opened up the season with a 49-31 win Friday over Grand Saline at Maverick Gymnasium.

Serenity Jackson led the Lady Mavs in scoring with 10 points as Amayai Spears was right behind her with nine. Asia Smith and Layla Smith each scored six points. Trinity Jacobs had five steals and Asia Smith came away with three and Layla Smith led the team in rebounds with seven.

Avery Byrum and Gabbie Lewis led Grand Saline in scoring with nine points each.

The Lady Mavs took on Whitehouse Saturday afternoon and will return to action Monday at 3:30 when they play host to the Tatum Lady Eagles.
