L-EYLAU 56, JEFFERSON 15: TEXARKANA — The Liberty-Eylau Leopards jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter and never let up, rolling to a 56-15 win over the Jefferson Bulldogs on Friday.
The Leopards move to 2-0 with the win, handing Jefferson its’ first loss and dropping the Bulldogs to 2-1.
Chris Lewis started the scoring for Liberty-Eylau with a 38-yard punt return five minutes into the contest.
The Leopards added a 5-yard run by Imahd Hicks and a 5-yard run by Maquaris Price to end the firs, and then went in front 28-0 midway through the second on a 27-yard interception return by Keenue Shephard.
Jefferson got on the board with a 6-yard run by C.J. Bowman, but Price bolted 18 yards for a touchdown early in the third for a 35-7 Leopard advantage.
After Bowman’s second TD of the night — a 2-yard run — the Leopards got touchdown runs of 2 and 1 yards by Price and Hicks before Cal Jones hit Rodric Galloway on a 35-yard TD pass to end the scoring.
Bowman rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries and had two catches for 59 yards in the loss for Jefferson. Luke McMullen had two catches for 38 yards.
Jones finished with 67 yards on five carries for Liberty-Eylau.
WASKOM 60, SHELBYVILLE 14: WSKOM — Three Wildcats rushed for at least 100 yards, and the Wildcats piled up 492 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground on the way to a 60-14 win over Shelbyville.
Waskom moves to 2-1 with the win, and Shelbyville drops to 1-2.
Cole Watson completed 4 of 5 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown and also carried eight times for 108 yards and three touchdowns for Waskom. Tesean Hamilton had 11 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown, and D.J. Feaster picked up 106 yards and scored twice on six carries to go along with two catches for 53 yards and on TD. Javius Jones carried just three times, but scored twice and finished with 96 rushing yards. Diego Smith rambled 59 yards with his lone carry of the night.
Trey Stevenson and Smith paced the defensive effort with 11 tackles apiece. Zay Thomas had six tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception.
The Wildcats will host Arp on Thursday.
HARLETON 44, RIVERCREST 26: HARLETON — Tabor Childs carried 21 times for 280 yards and five touchdowns, and the Harleton Wildcats broke into the win column on Friday with a 44-26 win over Rivercrest.
Harleton moves to 1-2 with the win, while Rivercrest drops to 1-2.
Blake Blassingame carried 10 times for 42 yards, and Carson Brown rushed for 65 yards on five carries for the Wildcats.
Harleton will visit Harmony on Friday.
