East Texas Baptist University baseball player Casey Combs has been named to the All-American first team. He was put on the ballot after being named the All-West Region Player of the Year and first team selection.

This is the fourth postseason award for Combs as he was named the American Southwest Conference Player of the Year and All-ASC first team. For his academic dedication, he was voted onto the CoSIDA Academic All-District team being one of just 13 players selected and the only catcher.

Combs’ season included a team-leading .417 batting average with 68 hits, 46 runs scored, 13 homers, 48 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a fielding percentage of .989. He also had an 11-game hitting streak that lasted from Mar. 8-Mar. 23. Finishing his career at ETBU, Combs ranks ninth all-time in hits with 165 and seventh in RBI with 120

In addition, Combs was also a two-time ASC Hitter of the Week. He joins his older brother, Conner, as an All-American at ETBU in the past four years.

Finishing 30-14, ETBU was third in the ASC with a 17-7 record and were the Red Bracket Tournament runners-up. It was the third 30-win season in four years for the program.
