On Sept. 27, the Tigers’ soccer team traveled to Alpine for the first time to battle with the Sul Ross State University Lobos. After a defensive first half between the two teams, ETBU struck the first goal from Ashleigh Rondon in the 73rd minute for a 1-0 lead.
SRSU answered back with an equalizer with only four minutes left to play, sending the match into overtime. The Lobos got the first shot of the overtime session but the ETBU defense collected the stop to keep the match tied at 1-1. In the 103rd minute, Rondon netted the golden goal that propelled ETBU to a 2-1 win over the Lobos.
Nearly a month later, ETBU went down to Pineville, Louisiana for another ASC match taking on Louisiana College. The game was scoreless for two halves and the first overtime. Ironically, it was Rondon who would come up with her second golden goal of the season as she headed in the winning goal to secure the 1-0 win in the 105th minute.
These two wins helped the Tigers reach the ASC Tournament and finished the season at 8-8-1 and 5-6 in ASC play.
